Line documentation for the Munich underground as preparation for the improvement measures forming part of the CBTC introduction

2020 Stadtwerke München

As part of measures to improve the control and safety technology on the Munich underground, video line recordings were compiled in order to document the latest infrastructure status. Time-intensive inspections that disrupt operations therefore become unnecessary and the exchange of information for future tenders is made easier.

SIGNON initially recorded the main and side tracks between Freimann and Sendlinger Tor (MU control area), with approx. 17 kilometres of track in the tunnel area. Other signal box areas are being planned.

In order to ensure the georeferencing and kilometre conversion of the data despite the lack of GPS signal, these data were then prepared using the existing layout data. The focus when recording the video was on having good lighting in order to make the details visible, such as the space available for cable laying.

The videos were also provided along with the SATengine Viewer software, making it possible to navigate the videos down to the precise track and platform.
